The Mansfield Canine Grooming Salon
Grooming Terms & Conditions
Effective from: 12 August 2026
These Terms & Conditions apply to all grooming services provided by The Mansfield Canine Grooming Salon at Mansfield Canine Centre. They should be read alongside the Mansfield Canine Centre General Booking Terms & Conditions.
By requesting or proceeding with a grooming booking, the customer confirms that they have read, understood and agreed to these terms.
- Grooming Booking Requests
Grooming bookings made online are submitted as booking requests and are subject to review by our grooming team.
Submission of a booking request does not guarantee that the requested appointment can be accepted. We may contact you if we need further information about your dog, their coat, health, behaviour or grooming requirements before confirming the booking.
Once the booking has been reviewed and accepted, a confirmation email will be sent.
If we are unable to accept the requested booking, we will contact you to discuss alternative options where possible.
- £20 Booking Deposit
A £20 deposit is required when making a grooming booking request.
The deposit forms part of the total cost of the grooming service and will be deducted from the final amount due.
The remaining balance is payable following the grooming appointment unless otherwise agreed.
If we are unable to accept your booking request, any deposit paid will be refunded in full.
- Cancellations and Changes
We require at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or change your grooming booking.
Bookings cancelled with more than 24 hours’ notice are eligible for a refund of the deposit or transfer to another suitable appointment.
Bookings cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice are not eligible for a refund or transfer.
However, if we are able to fill the cancelled appointment with another paying customer, the deposit will be refunded.
If Mansfield Canine Centre or the groomer needs to cancel your appointment, any deposit paid will either be refunded in full or transferred to another booking, according to your preference.
- Arrival Times
Please arrive at the agreed time for your grooming appointment.
Late arrival may reduce the amount of time available for the groom and, where there is insufficient time to safely complete the requested service, we may need to alter or reschedule the appointment.
Where a booking cannot go ahead because of a significant late arrival, the normal cancellation terms may apply.
- Collection
We will contact you when your dog is ready for collection or provide an estimated collection time.
Dogs should be collected promptly once their groom is complete.
Repeated or significant delays in collection may result in an additional charge where additional staff time or care is required.
- Health and Medical Conditions
You must tell us about any known medical conditions, injuries, allergies, skin conditions, recent surgery, medication or other health concerns that could affect your dog during grooming.
You must also tell us if your dog is elderly, particularly nervous or has previously experienced difficulties during grooming.
Grooming can involve standing, handling, bathing, drying, brushing and other physical activity. If we believe continuing a groom could compromise your dog’s welfare, we may modify or stop the groom.
The Animal Welfare Act 2006 requires those responsible for animals to take reasonable steps to protect their welfare, including protecting them from pain, injury, suffering and disease. (Legislation.gov.uk)
- Behaviour and Aggression
Please tell us before the appointment if your dog has ever shown aggression, attempted to bite, become extremely distressed during grooming or reacted negatively to particular grooming procedures.
The safety and welfare of the dog and groomer will always take priority.
If your dog becomes excessively stressed, aggressive or unsafe to handle, we may modify or stop the groom.
Where a groom cannot be completed because of the dog’s behaviour, a charge may still apply for the work and time already provided.
We reserve the right to decline future grooming bookings where we believe we cannot safely or appropriately groom a particular dog.
- Coat Condition and Matting
Please tell us about any known matting or significant coat problems when booking.
Where a coat is heavily matted, completing the originally requested style may not be possible or may not be in the dog’s best interests.
Where appropriate, the groomer may recommend clipping the coat shorter rather than attempting prolonged or uncomfortable de-matting.
By leaving your dog with us for grooming, you authorise the groomer to make reasonable adjustments to the planned groom where necessary for the dog’s welfare.
Where possible, significant changes will be discussed with you beforehand.
Severe matting can conceal existing skin irritation, sores, parasites or other conditions. Removing tightly matted hair can also reveal pre-existing problems that could not reasonably have been identified beforehand.
- Additional Grooming Time or Work
The price selected when booking is based on the expected service and information provided about your dog.
Additional charges may apply where substantially more time or work is required due to factors such as excessive matting, coat condition, behaviour or other circumstances that could not reasonably have been anticipated when the booking was made.
Where practical, we will discuss significant additional charges with you before proceeding.
- Fleas and Parasites
Please do not bring your dog for grooming if you know that they have fleas or another contagious parasite unless this has been discussed with us beforehand.
If fleas or parasites are discovered during grooming, we may need to stop or modify the service and undertake additional cleaning or treatment of the grooming environment.
Additional reasonable charges may apply where significant additional cleaning is necessary.
- Grooming Results
We will discuss your grooming preferences and will make reasonable efforts to achieve the requested style.
The final result will depend on factors including coat condition, coat type, previous grooming, matting, the dog’s behaviour and what can safely and humanely be achieved during the appointment.
Where a requested style cannot safely be completed, the dog’s welfare will take priority.
UK consumer law requires services to be carried out with reasonable care and skill, and nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights. (Legislation.gov.uk)
- Existing Skin Conditions, Lumps and Other Findings
Grooming can sometimes reveal lumps, bumps, skin irritation, wounds, ear problems or other conditions that were not previously visible.
Where we notice something of concern, we will make you aware of it.
Our groomers cannot diagnose medical conditions. If appropriate, we may recommend that you seek advice from your veterinary surgeon.
- Accidents and Veterinary Treatment
Although every reasonable precaution is taken while dogs are in our care, accidents or unexpected medical events can occur.
If your dog becomes unwell or requires urgent veterinary attention while in our care, we will make reasonable attempts to contact you.
Where we reasonably believe urgent veterinary treatment is necessary and we cannot reach you, you authorise us to seek appropriate veterinary assistance in the interests of your dog’s welfare.
The owner remains responsible for veterinary costs relating to pre-existing conditions, illness or circumstances not caused by a failure on our part to exercise reasonable care and skill.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
- Toileting Before Grooming
Where possible, please give your dog an opportunity to toilet before arriving for their grooming appointment.
This helps make the grooming experience more comfortable for your dog.
- Personal Belongings
Please avoid leaving unnecessary personal belongings with your dog.
Any collars, leads, coats or other belongings left with us should be clearly identifiable.
- Photographs and Social Media
We may occasionally take photographs or videos of dogs following their groom for business and promotional purposes.
If you do not wish for your dog to be photographed or used on Mansfield Canine Centre or Mansfield Canine Grooming Salon social media or marketing channels, please let us know.
- Right to Refuse or Stop a Groom
We reserve the right to refuse, modify or stop a grooming service where we reasonably believe that continuing would compromise the welfare of the dog, the safety of staff or our ability to provide the service appropriately.
Any amount charged in these circumstances will take account of the work already completed and the circumstances involved.
