Canine Fun Swim Terms & Conditions
Mansfield Canine Centre Ltd
Effective from 14 October 2026
Version 1.3
These service-specific Terms & Conditions apply to all Canine Fun Swim bookings at Mansfield Canine Centre.
These terms should be read together with the Mansfield Canine Centre General Booking Terms & Conditions. Where these terms deal specifically with Canine Fun Swims, these service-specific terms take priority.
- Nature of Canine Fun Swims
Canine Fun Swims are private recreational swimming sessions intended for leisure, exercise, enrichment and enjoyment.
Fun Swims are suitable only for dogs that are fit and healthy enough to participate safely.
Canine Fun Swims are not canine hydrotherapy, rehabilitation, veterinary treatment or a clinical service. A Fun Swim booking does not include assessment, treatment, rehabilitation advice or supervision by a canine hydrotherapist.
If your dog has an injury, recent surgery, reduced mobility, a heart or respiratory condition, neurological condition, pain or any other medical condition that could be affected by swimming, you are responsible for seeking appropriate veterinary or hydrotherapy advice before booking.
If your dog's injury or medical condition means that swimming should only be carried out under the guidance or supervision of a trained, qualified canine hydrotherapist, you must not book a recreational Canine Fun Swim.
Medical canine hydrotherapy sessions are also available at Mansfield Canine Centre with a qualified canine hydrotherapist.
For further information about medical hydrotherapy, please email:
MCHydro@MansfieldCanineCentre.co.uk
or visit:
https://mansfieldcaninecentre.co.uk/canine-hydrotherapy/
If you are unsure whether a recreational Fun Swim or a medical hydrotherapy appointment is most appropriate for your dog, please contact us before booking.
- Owner-swum sessions and responsibility
Canine Fun Swims are owner-swum sessions.
A responsible adult aged 18 or over must be present and in the pool with the dog whenever the dog is swimming.
Customers remain responsible for the care, control, behaviour and supervision of their dog throughout the booking.
A member of the Mansfield Canine Centre team may provide an introduction, general safety guidance and practical assistance where needed.
Any assistance or guidance provided by Fun Swim staff is general recreational swimming guidance and does not constitute veterinary, rehabilitation or canine hydrotherapy advice.
Staff may pause or end a session if they reasonably believe that a dog or person is distressed, unwell, unsafe or unable to continue appropriately.
- Health, fitness and disclosure
Dogs must be fit and well enough to participate safely in recreational swimming.
Customers must disclose any known injury, medical condition, recent surgery, mobility issue, breathing difficulty, skin condition, behavioural concern or other relevant health information before swimming.
If a dog's health or circumstances have changed since the booking was made, you must tell us before the dog enters the pool.
Dogs must not attend if they are showing signs of a potentially contagious illness or infection, including vomiting, diarrhoea, infectious skin conditions, fleas or mites.
Female dogs in season are not permitted to swim.
We recommend that dogs are appropriately vaccinated or titre tested. Customers choosing to attend with a dog that is not vaccinated or titre tested accept that facilities used by multiple dogs may carry an increased risk of exposure to infectious illness.
Mansfield Canine Centre may refuse or stop a Fun Swim if we reasonably believe that swimming would be unsafe or unsuitable for the dog.
- Feeding and exercise
Dogs must not be fed during the two hours immediately before swimming.
Please allow at least 60 minutes after swimming before feeding your dog.
Customers should avoid strenuous exercise immediately before a Fun Swim and should allow their dog appropriate rest before, during and after swimming.
Dogs should be allowed regular rest breaks during their session and must not be encouraged to continue swimming when showing signs of tiredness, distress or discomfort.
- Session times
Your Canine Fun Swim is for the specific duration selected and shown in your booking confirmation.
The booked session includes all activities carried out within the allocated booking time, including changing, preparing your dog, entering and leaving the pool, swimming, showering and drying.
Customers are responsible for managing their session so that they leave the pool room by the scheduled end time.
Any time reserved before or after a booking for cleaning, pool testing, water treatment, resetting equipment or preparing the facility is for Mansfield Canine Centre use and does not form part of the customer's session.
Late arrival will not normally extend the scheduled end time.
If you arrive early, please wait in reception, browse the shop or follow staff instructions until the pool room is ready.
- Safety equipment and pool use
A suitable canine life jacket or secure swimming harness must be worn while a dog is swimming unless a member of staff advises otherwise for a specific safety reason.
Suitable canine swimming equipment is available at Mansfield Canine Centre for use during the session.
Customers must ensure that equipment is fitted appropriately before allowing their dog to swim.
Pool toys may be provided for use during Fun Swims.
Please use toys and swimming equipment sensibly and allow your dog appropriate rest breaks.
Repetitive play should be avoided where a dog is swallowing excessive amounts of pool water.
Dogs must not be encouraged to jump or dive into the pool.
Customers must follow reasonable staff safety instructions and use the pool, pool steps, shower, drying equipment and surrounding facilities appropriately.
- Dogs attending the session
The number of dogs attending must match the booking option selected and paid for.
Customers must not exceed the maximum number of dogs permitted by their selected booking without prior agreement from Mansfield Canine Centre.
No more than two dogs should normally be in the pool at the same time unless a member of staff has specifically agreed otherwise.
Any dogs waiting outside the pool must be appropriately supervised or safely secured on a suitable lead.
Please contact us before attending if you need to change the number of dogs included in your booking. Changes are subject to capacity, availability and any applicable additional charge.
- Children and spectators
Family members and spectators are welcome to attend, subject to the safe capacity of the pool room.
Children aged 10 or over may enter the pool when directly supervised by a responsible adult aged 18 or over.
Children who are not swimming and all other guests must be appropriately supervised while poolside.
Customers are responsible for ensuring children and guests follow staff instructions and behave safely around the pool.
The pool room is private to your booked party during your session, although other customers, dogs and activities may still be present elsewhere at Mansfield Canine Centre.
- Nervous, reactive and legally restricted dogs
Nervous and reactive dogs are welcome to attend private Canine Fun Swims.
Please tell us before attending if your dog is nervous, reactive, aggressive or has a history of behaviour that could create a safety risk so that appropriate arrangements can be discussed.
A separate entrance may be available by prior arrangement to help reduce contact with other dogs or people.
All dogs must remain on a suitable lead and under appropriate control in public or customer-access areas of Mansfield Canine Centre, including the shop, reception, car park and routes between service areas.
Owners of dogs subject to legal restrictions remain responsible for complying with all current legal requirements and any conditions attached to an exemption or other legal permission.
Where a dog is legally required to wear a muzzle or remain on a lead in public areas, these requirements must be followed when entering, leaving and moving around Mansfield Canine Centre.
Leads and muzzles may only be removed once the dog is inside the secure pool room where this is legally permitted and appropriate.
Mansfield Canine Centre may request reasonable evidence of legal compliance where necessary.
- Showering before swimming and pool hygiene
All dogs must be rinsed thoroughly using the shower immediately before entering the swimming pool.
This helps remove dirt, mud, loose hair and other contaminants and helps us maintain appropriate pool water quality.
Dogs that are particularly muddy or carrying excessive loose hair may require a more thorough rinse before entering the pool.
Customers must ensure their dog has had an appropriate opportunity to toilet before entering the pool.
Please avoid allowing dogs to enter the pool where they are likely to need to toilet.
Customers must tell a member of staff immediately if their dog is sick, defecates in the pool or another contamination incident occurs.
- Pool contamination
If a dog defecates in the pool or another serious contamination incident occurs, the pool may need to be closed so that appropriate cleaning, draining, refilling, treatment and reheating can take place.
This can result in significant operational costs and may also require later customer bookings to be cancelled.
A contamination charge may therefore be applied where significant contamination is caused during a customer's booking. Any applicable charge will be communicated as part of the booking information or by Mansfield Canine Centre.
Customers must immediately notify staff of any contamination incident and follow any instructions given.
- Showering and drying after swimming
Shower and drying facilities are available for use during the booked session.
Dog-safe shampoo may be provided, and customers are also welcome to bring their own suitable shampoo where preferred.
Customers remain responsible for ensuring that any product they bring is appropriate for their dog.
Please take appropriate care when using electrical drying equipment around wet areas and follow any instructions provided by staff.
All showering and drying must be completed within the customer's allocated booking time unless otherwise agreed.
- Water quality and skin sensitivity
Mansfield Canine Centre regularly tests and treats the swimming pool water and carries out routine cleaning and maintenance to support appropriate hygiene and water quality.
Individual dogs can nevertheless respond differently to treated swimming-pool water.
Dogs with sensitive skin, allergies or existing skin conditions may experience irritation following swimming.
If your dog has a known skin condition or sensitivity, you should consider whether recreational swimming is suitable and seek veterinary advice where appropriate.
Mansfield Canine Centre cannot guarantee that a dog will not experience temporary skin, eye, ear or coat irritation following swimming.
- Poolside safety, footwear and clothing
Poolside, shower and changing areas may become wet and slippery.
Customers and spectators should move carefully around wet areas.
Adults entering the pool area are strongly encouraged to wear suitable non-slip footwear when not swimming.
Customers may wear whichever suitable swimwear or clothing they feel comfortable swimming in.
Dogs may accidentally scratch people while swimming or attempting to gain support. Wearing a suitable long-sleeved top may help reduce the risk of accidental scratches.
Customers enter the pool voluntarily and should consider their own health, mobility and swimming ability before taking part.
If you have a health condition or disability that could affect your ability to enter, exit or safely use the pool, please contact us before your booking so that we can discuss whether reasonable arrangements can be made.
- Care of the facility
Customers must treat the swimming pool, changing area, shower, drying equipment, toys, swimming equipment and other facilities with reasonable care.
Please report damaged or unsafe equipment to a member of staff.
Where avoidable damage is caused deliberately, negligently or because clear safety instructions have been ignored, Mansfield Canine Centre may charge the reasonable cost of cleaning, repair or replacement.
- Cancellations and rescheduling
Cancellations and requests to reschedule are subject to the Mansfield Canine Centre General Booking Terms & Conditions.
The applicable cancellation notice period and refund arrangements will be those stated in the General Booking Terms & Conditions and/or shown during the booking process.
Late arrival, failure to attend or failure to use the full duration of a booked session does not normally entitle the customer to a refund or extension.
- Normal risks of recreational swimming
Swimming and poolside activities involve normal risks, including slips, falls, scratches, fatigue, swallowing water and accidental collisions with people, dogs or equipment.
Customers are responsible for considering whether recreational swimming is suitable for their dog and themselves and for following all reasonable safety instructions.
Mansfield Canine Centre is not responsible for loss, injury or damage that could not reasonably have been foreseen or that arises from a customer's failure to disclose relevant information, appropriately supervise their dog or follow reasonable safety instructions.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it cannot legally be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
- Personal belongings
Personal belongings are brought into the pool room and changing areas at the owner's risk, except where loss or damage is caused by Mansfield Canine Centre's negligence.
Customers are encouraged to keep electronic devices, valuables and other water-sensitive items away from wet areas.
- Photography, video and CCTV
The photography, video, marketing and CCTV provisions contained within the Mansfield Canine Centre General Booking Terms & Conditions also apply to Canine Fun Swim bookings.
Photographs or video may occasionally be taken during visits and may be used, where lawful, for Mansfield Canine Centre websites, social media, advertising, promotional materials or other marketing purposes.
If you do not want yourself, a child or another person in your party, or your dog to be included in photographs or video used for media or marketing, please tell a member of the Mansfield Canine Centre team before or during your visit.
We will respect reasonable opt-out requests.
